Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 – “FINISH IT”

Remember, Jesus said, It is finished! The Victory is secure! We encourage and build each other up not to earn or secure a victory. WE NEED EACH OTHER. FINISH IT! This is our battle cry living on this side of eternity.

Paul’s instructions on how to live: how to FINISH IT.

1. Studying, learning from God’s Word. We need Biblical teaching and leadership. It helps us to “fight the good fight”, to grow in love of God, and to grow in loving each other, to live in peace with each other. We encourage and build each other up through our study of the Word of God. (1 Thess. 5:14-15)

2. We are to encourage and build each other up by praying continually and through loving and serving our neighbor. (1 Thess. 5:16-17)

3. We are to give thanks in all circumstances. (1 Thess. 5:18)

Towards the end of chapter five, Paul gives us a blessing, “May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.” (1 Thess. 5:23-24
