| Sunday Morning Worship - 9:00 AM
Our Sunday morning service is designed to follow one of several orders of worship as printed in our hymnal. These beautiful services draw their material from many different places in Holy Scripture and engage the congregation in confession & absolution, worship & praise, and instruction. In addition to a regular sermon, the service contains a children’s sermon. The children of the congregation join our Pastor at the front of the church for a short lesson. Sometimes, this is an object-lesson based on an item that Pastor brings in; other times, the children bring in an item and put Pastor on the spot as he ties it to the theme of the day's sermon. The sacrament of Holy Communion is served on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of each month. Like other Missouri Synod Lutheran churches, Mt. Hope practices close communion to celebrate the unity of the church’s belief that we are partaking, not of a symbolic meal of rememberance, but of Christ's true body and blood. If you are a member of the Lutheran church visiting Mt. Hope and wish to take communion, we invite you to speak to Pastor Hesse before joining us at the altar. All non-communicant church members and visitors are also encouraged to come forward to the altar to receive a blessing. Sunday worship services last approximately one hour, slightly longer on Sundays with communion. Refreshments of cookies, pastries, coffee, and juice are offered after the service as well as ample opportunity for fellowship. A variety of classes begin once everyone has been well-fed.
