Our Program
We offer full-
and part-time preschool for children ages 2-1/2 to 6 years. Mt. Hope
Lutheran Preschool provides children opportunities for imaginative
play, art and music, motor skill development, social and spiritual
growth. Our program includes a balance of structured and self-directed
activities. Teachers act as facilitators, encouraging children to
become independent and imaginative. Children are encouraged in their
strengths, assisted in overcoming their weaknesses, and recognized for
their uniqueness.
We have a relaxed atmosphere where cooperative learning is encouraged.
We hope to establish in each child a positive self image and an ability
to express ideas and emotions in a positive way.
Above all, we teach our children to honor and respect one another and all of God's creation.

Music
We believe that music is essential to the emotional, physical, and
creative development of children. Music
is integrated into our daily routine with singing, playing instruments,
dancing, finding rhythms, and listening. Our main goal
for the music program is to establish
a foundation preparing our children for a life-long appreciation, desire, and
love for music.

Science
Playing with
magnets, planting seeds, observing our classroom pets, discovering
which objects float and which ones sink, watching as caterpillars form
chrysalises and transform into butterflies, making gooey concoctions...
This is just a glimpse into how we teach science to preschoolers. We
encourage children to explore their world by engaging them in
activities where they can hypothesize, experiment, and observe in order
to learn more about their surroundings.

Cooking
Cooking is one
of our favorite activities at the preschool! Children are
encouraged to follow recipes, taste new foods, and share their
creations with others. Herein, they are introduced to the basics of the
kitchen, including mixing, cutting, measuring, and - of course, safety.

Pottery
We are so
blessed to have partnered with Paints 'n Pots pottery studio in
Superior to provide our children with pottery class once a month. The
class is at no additional cost to our families. The children are
encouraged to experiment with colors, textures, and painting methods
while creating a masterpiece that will be glazed, fired, and sent home
within a week or two.

Arts & Crafts
Each day, we explore
various art forms and mediums, giving the children an an outlet for
their artistic creativity. We emphasize the process of making
art, rather than the finished product, so that learning and creating is
fun and non-pressured.

Chapel
Pastor George
Hesse, of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, teaches the children for Chapel on
Thursday mornings. His enthusiasm and creativity in teaching Bible
stories to the children makes it fun and memorable. We'd love for

Service Projects
Each month or so we participate in a service project of some kind. Last
year we collected food, coats, and childrens shoes for various
organizations. We also made Valentines for nursing home residents and
collected trash around our school grounds. We love teaching children
that they can help others...others at Mt. Hope, others in Boulder, and
even people who live in other countries!
